Carlos Ramisch's personal photo

I am currently assistant professor (maître de conférences) at Aix-Marseille University and researcher at the TALEP (Traitement Automatique du Langage Écrit et Parlé) team of LIF (Laboratoire d'Informatique Fondamentale). I previously worked as teaching and research assistant (ATER) at Joseph Fourier University - Grenoble I.

I obtained my PhD (2009-2012, double degree) from the University of Grenoble (France) under the supervision of Christian Boitet and at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) under the supervision of Aline Villavicencio. My Ph.D. was funded by a research scholarship from the French Ministry of Research and Higher Education. I hold a Bachelor's degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a Master's degree from ENSIMAG at Grenoble INP.

My research focuses on lexical acquisition of multiword expressions (MWEs) for natural language processing applications. I am also interested in statistical machine translation, corpus linguistics, web as corpus, lexical and ontological resources and distributional semantics. I have been working in the field of computational linguistics since 2006: my previous working experiences include internships at the Natural Language Processing Group of the Institute of Informatics at UFRGS, the Cross-Language Technologies group at XRCE and at GETALP - LIG.
